I’m quite good at doing nothing. Whether it’s a Saturday, I’m on a vacation, or unemployed, I can while away several hours and look up and think “Holy hell, it’s 2pm? What have I done today? ”It’s obvious I don’t have kids. I have a friend who told me she always makes a point to shower by Noon on weekends and I’ve always found that very impressive.

In normal times, you could read this and think I’m incredibly lazy (harsh, but fair). However, we are now in Coronavirus times and you may be thinking “impressive!” It’s not a skill exactly, more the ability to lie around and not feel bad about it. To get up and think “Yeah, it’s Saturday!” even though I’m unemployed and it makes no difference. I got up around 9-9:30, then called my Aunt around Noon. I think? What did I do for three hours? I had breakfast in bed (highly recommend) and……read? Goofed around online and looked at today’s news stories…checked email. I texted a few friends. How does that fill three hours? I don’t know, that’s the point.

It’s now after 6pm and have spent the remainder of the day chatting with neighbors as they come and go, reading at home, and lying in the park reading. Kelly also called, so that was a nice catch-up.

To be fair I did a little bit of networking and emailing towards the job search today, so that’s something. The SF Chronicle is hosting a #TotalSF movie night of “Inside Out” that they would’ve had at the Balboa, but instead people will watch at home and tweet and take pictures of their pizzas and pillow forts and try to share some goofiness. For Twitter enthusiasts, you can follow this event at #TotalSF or #SFRuinsPizza.

Good guy of the day

Governor Gavin Newsom. He announced today that California will pay restaurants to make, deliver meals to senior citizens. Seems like everyone wins here. Thanks, Gavin.
